Easter 2010 with Stefan

This years easter started already on wednesday for me, the day before Holy or Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, as all Norwegians stop working at 12 o clock the day before the christian holiday. This meant automatically that all shops were shut at 16:00. This years easter is a little different from other easters in that we had someone staying for the whole week with us.

As you have seen I haven't written at all anymore since somewhere in december 2009. The reasons for that are many.
For one we have moved to a place closer to my Stavanger job, in Malmheim in Sandnes. Around christmas we were very occupied with both the christmas celebrations as well as the move to Sandnes. And for the other it is generally busy when you have a job.

In europe you got it already a little earlier in the week. We had it actually briefly before that again, but it was pretty fast gone too. Also a month or so ago when I was driving from Stavanger to Valle, I had to drive partly in a lot of snow and snowstorms. But that was on a higher altitude ofcourse.

It's finally fully summer and with that you get days or weeks without rain. This results in some places to forest fires but in our case mostly yellow grass and dying plants. So I had to organise something against that problem.

The weekend before Christmas, was rather a special one. I, Theresa, decided to join the Norwegian Dyrebeskyttelsen (animal protection). I finally found them after many years of searching. Norway is on the bottom of the list to take care of animals they have no RSPCA or animal police, so it's good that the animal protection service exist. They are very new and they only started a few years ago.

Audrey, Henry and Peter in Norway 2008-2009

They arrived the 26th in Kristiansand at midnight and smsed us that they arrived in their hotel at 00:30 to have a nice sleep before they would travel to Kvinesdal. So then the next morning we woke up early to do the last arrangements and then went to Kvinesdal to meet up with them. At first we didn't see them, nor could we reach them, so me and Theres drove off towards Øyesletta towards the big bridge and tunnels. When we were nearly at the bridge Theresa suddenly received the call that they had arrived in the center. They appeared to have taken the D-tour via the old road of the new road crossing of Farsund to Kvinesdal (that must have been some adventure, icy roads, waterfalls all over the place and a small road).

Christmas 2008

On the 23rd we had Lisa and Ivan from Kristiansand over and the 24th (official christmas eve) we just had them with us without any special party going. We shopped a bit still, visited Ivan's father in Flekkefjord and exchanged presents here and there. Iactually caught a nasty flue at that time already since monday, so I was mostly inside or in a car.

Last friday we had a fantastic Julebord (dinner) from Osigraf/AESTON in Kristiansand, the company that I currently do some work for with servers. This dinner we were allowed to come with our partners so we both came nicely clothed to the party, from which we had bought some special clothing in Sandnes the weekend before. We took Helge and Emil with and together we traveled to Kristiansand.

Where is the winter?

Is this the effect of global warming or is it normal? There is not much of a winter here. What should have been snow is becoming a rain flood everywhere. The lake is really high in water, everyday we have a rainstorm nearly and it causes floods on the nearby river towards Liknes. Several pictures made from that.

The whole world is doing stuff around CO2 emission now. Holland makes new car's more expensive, unless it's a hydro, electric or diesel. Everything above 200mg co2 emission also gets more expensive on taxes.

Det Snø!!! It is finally snowing. I said it would probably snow after new year. I hoped for the first of Januari in the morning, but there wasn't any then yet. Today (2nd of January) it started early morning. Now we have perhaps 5 cm snow. They expect a lot of snow coming week and weekend, so I will tease you all with wonderful snow pictures! haha

It's getting colder in Norway. I don't know if that also goes for the rest of Europe, but we have nights of -5 or lower and sometimes the rest of the day is also that temperature. The grass and trees have a frozen layer over their branches. It's a weird thing to see. The photo album about Norway Impressions, shows that kind of photos currently.

We started our journey at 9.30 at Monday 26th of November to Norway. After saying goodbye to my parents and grandfather and Rover (cat) we drove off following the TomTom, which directed us straight into the sand mess at Delden (haha) so we made our D-tour ourselves around the trouble and went on to the road past Hengelo and Oldenzaal to Germany.

After my last exam and some things around a funeral of a family member of Theresa in Germany we went to Norway. This was supposed to be three weeks, which I also said to family, friends and neighbours. After those three weeks I had to tell them that it will take a little longer. And in the end it was three months before we went back.
